Mad Catz have unveiled their new L.Y.N.X 9, a transforming hybrid controller intended to turn any phone or tablet into a portable Android gaming system. Designed to be a suitable controller for whatever hardware you’re using the L.Y.N.X has multiple configurations allowing it to adapt to use with a PC, Console, smart phone or tablet.
The controller is comprised of three primary pieces; the left and right sides, and the central controller brain. These three parts can be separated and repositioned to best fit the Android device attached. While its default configuration is ideal for traditional gaming the controller also features a stand and clip to hold your phone, similar to Razor’s portable Android controller, Serval, providing an easily assembled portable system.
When attaching a tablet the two side pieces slide apart, allowing a device to be placed between, and sit at the edges, creating a tray like gaming system that fits in your lap.
The L.Y.N.X 9 contains an in-built microphone for functions such as voice search, and each controller comes with a HDMI cable so you can connect your device to a TV to play on a larger screen — should you have the opportunity. A QWERTY keyboard is also available as an additional module. You can see more of its transformative powers here.
