If Disciples and Final Fantasy had a baby who grew up and had a torrid affair with the Oregon Trail, their love child would be Tales of Illyria. Part survival sim, Part RPG, Tales of Illyria represents one of the finest, most innovative independent Android RPGs in existence. Developer Little Killerz, headed up by Indie developer par excellence Chad Mannicia, has rendered a rather unique game in Illyria, one that somehow also manages to tag all the RPG bases: engaging party-based combat, rich consistent world building as well as solid interactive story-telling, much of it coming to the player by way of an Oregon Trail mechanic, wherein the player manages randomized episodes while questing on the open road. Developed originally for Android, Illyria is the kind of substantial and storied RPG that Android gamers can point to and say: “And it’s only on Android. Suckahs!”
