Winter Is Here
Asmodee Digital brings A Game of Thrones: The Board Game to mobile devices. Fans who were disappointed by Game Of Thrones last season may find this title based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song Of Fire And Ice book series more palatable. A turn-based strategy game, the mobile title is a digital version of the popular board game. Players will choose to lead one of the six Great Houses of Westeros—Stark, Martell, Tyrells, Lannister, Baratheon or Greyjoy. The game itself takes place during The War of The Five Kings, which fans of the books and television series will remember well.
Not only will the player need to outwit their opponents on the battlefield, but they’ll also need to master diplomacy as well. Players will need to gain enough influence to claim key positions in the royal court. The title requires both cunning in the court and fierceness on the battlefield. Players unite the other houses against the wildling threat and claim the crown for their own. The game’s mobile version features both a single-player and online mode for up to six players competing in the latter. A Game of Thrones: The Board Game features cross-platform multiplayer, so those taking advantage of the mobile version can compete against those playing the PC and Mac versions of the game. The title also includes the A Dance with Dragons DLC based on George R.R. Martin’s novel of the same title.
While the PC version received mostly positive reviews on Steam, the jury’s still out on the mobile port. Hopefully, unlike season eight of Game of Thrones, this title will not disappoint. Be on the lookout for Hardcore Droid’s review coming soon.
