The Legend Continues
The fame of Apex Legends Mobile proceeds itself, thanks to the talented developers of Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts. The original Apex Legends debuted three years ago as a FPT battle royale and has grown into a thriving gaming community. A community that now welcomes mobile game players into its ranks. A release of the game designed for touchscreen came out for Android and iOS in early May of 2022. Apex Legends Mobile has already garnered over 10 million downloads since its release and holds a Google Play score of 4.3 in reviews. A major positive that should attract mobile game players is that the Apex Legends Mobile is FTP, with options for in-game purchases, much like its forbearer
Reaching an Apex
While Apex Legends Mobile brings with it all the personality of the original game, including the pros and the cons, the mobile version manages to separate its personality from its humble origins. The tutorial of Apex Legends Mobile is far more forgiving and user-friendly. The colors feel brighter on the smaller screen. And the ability to plug directly into the audio with headphones immerses players in a surround-sound environment of music and action. Because Apex Legends Mobile is still new, there are a variety of goodies players can get simply by logging on and playing a couple times a day. Hopefully this will last to late participants of the game, but there is no way to tell. Of course, seasonal events will always provide something for players. And the graphics between a console game and a mobile game never fully equate. However, the developers did what they could to maintain the quality of color and texture. Apex Legends Mobile might not be as detailed, but players must make the compromise between smooth lines or smooth gameplay.
Not Unlocking Full Potential
Small screens make for tight action. The user interface taking up approximately 35% of the screen. That includes mini-map, status bars, group chat and notifications, action and movement keys and pop-up windows—which leaves players very little space to play. On the big screen of a console, this is not an issue. But here, in the mobile gaming realm, screen space is delicate real estate. The touchscreen aspect does not make a player’s life any easier. I spent more time trying to make sure I hit the right buttons than shooting the right opponents. And activating sprint was more difficult than it was worth. Of course, there is a market for that in the form of “made for mobile devices” controllers. But the point of an FTP game is players can partake without denting their wallet. So, the situation of players having to decide between lacking precious screen space or making a mobile game not-so-mobile with costly accessories is a letdown. However, overall, Apex Legends Mobile delivers all that it promises its players they will receive. Lovers of the original game can finally keep Apex Legends with them wherever they go.
Is It Hardcore?
Is It Hardcore?
Apex Legends Mobile has all the same perks and problems as its predecessor; however, this does n0t detract from the fun of the battle royale gameplay and should not make players shy away from giving the game a try.
