Jumping into the world of MMORPGs can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult to play for beginners. Higame-omg’s Astral Verse is a good choice for beginners and gamers who haven’t played MMORPGs in a while. This is a safe option for anyone to play.
The beginning of Astral Verse takes place in a guided tutorial where you arrive just in time to save the day and receive a prophetic revelation that marks you as a legendary hero. The only thing is, you haven’t reached the status of legendary hero yet. That’s where countless NPCs and quests come into play and your adventure begins. This type of intro is a classic beginning for any MMORPG and makes for a perfect starting point for someone who wants to venture into this genre.
With a simple storyline, that of a continent in peril from monstrous forces and magical warriors who fly through the sky, Astral Verse is a textbook example of mobile MMORPGs. Many follow a similar aesthetic, that of the classic East-Asian fantasy game, and Astral Verse is no different. The NPC and hero designs are based on Chinese traditional dress and the monsters are derived from East-Asian mythology.
Overly complicated MMORPGs can confuse and overwhelm new players with their in-depth gameplay and different strategies needed to combat bosses. Astral Verse excels in its simplicity. It’s possible to run through the game solo if that’s your preferred style of gaming.
Astral Verse doesn’t have as wide an array of hero selection available as many MMORPGs do, but that’s one of the reasons it’s a great choice for someone with little to no experience in MMORPGs. There are three classes available to build your hero. You can choose to either be a Prophet, Ranger, or Swordsman. From there, you have the option of playing as a male or female character.
The Ranger and Swordsman classes are similar in that they’re both based on physical attacks with an emphasis on strength and speed. The key difference is that Rangers specialize in long-distance physical attacks and the Swordsman focuses on melee. Prophets can wield specialized magic in the form of storms and ice. After sufficient leveling up and quest completion, your hero will be able to equip a pair of wings that allow for flight.
One of the selling points of MMORPGs is the customization features, which Astral Verse does not have. Hero customization is at the bare minimum of simply choosing between two genders and three hero classes. Changing hair and eye color isn’t possible, nor are there any major customizations available for equipment or clothing, and none are available within the free-to-play mechanism. The in-game shop provides a few avatar skins and limited edition mounts for your hero to travel on, but all of them are items that need to be paid for.
Gaining experience and leveling up is incredibly easy within the world of Astral Verse. Experience is cheap currency. At the end of the guided tutorial and within a few quests, your level will have risen exponentially. Don’t be surprised to find yourself anywhere from level 40 to 50, depending on the amount of farming done or if you’ve speed run through the quests. Keep in mind that while the experience gain is immense at the beginning of the game, it will begin to slow down as you climb the ranks in order to even out the playing field.
If you decided to speed run through the quests, you may miss out on possible side quests or farming that will help you later on. This is especially true if you decide to depend on the autoplay feature. Autoplay is common in some mobile MMORPGs. It’ll run through the main quests of Astral Verse, but it’s usually quite easy to turn off so that you can play yourself. Many games that have autoplay don’t start with it turned on. With Astral Verse, from the get-go, the player is stuck in autoplay mode. This can easily turn a game that’s supposed to be an MMORPG into something similar to an idler.
Autoplay is a feature that makes gameplay much easier for beginners or if you want to take a step back while running through quests. If the mode is left on, your hero will continue advancing through the quests until either you hit a mandated stopping point or all of your hero’s health has been depleted. Self-healing is a missing feature that would have perfected Astral Verse’s autoplay mode. However, this helps the game maintain a distance from idlers because an eye has to still be kept on your hero. Even though autoplay will ensure your hero keeps fighting, it won’t keep them alive.
Passing the Time
Astral Verse is a good way to pass the time if you want to play an MMORPG but don’t want to get stuck in a complicated storyline or face difficult bosses. The hero options, while basic for an MMORPG, are enough to keep things interesting. The game’s mechanics ensure smooth sailing whether or not you depend on the autoplay feature.
Is It Hardcore?
If you’re looking for something to pass the time, Astral Verse is a game that’s in the running. While this MMORPG doesn’t knock it out of the ballpark with an insane storyline or incredible fighting scenes, it’s a comfortable game to fall back on. You can easily leave it on autoplay while you level up and run through quests.
