Who Can Play and What to Expect
Square Enix has officially announced the mobile RPG Avatar: Generations for iOS and Android devices. The game has already soft-launched in four countries and is available now in Canada, Denmark, South Africa, and Sweden.
The game is a collaboration between the Paramountowned Avatar Studios, Square Enix’s new mobile-focused studio London Mobile and Navigator Games. Avatar Studios is headed by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender. They founded it in February 2021 to facilitate the production of various projects that expanded the Avatar universe.
The free-to-play game follows protagonists Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko. Players will follow them as they travel the world, as seen in the three seasons of the original Nickelodeon TV series. It will feature squad-based battles, and the developers promise a deep upgrade and party customization system. In addition to the content available at launch, Developers also plan to roll out DLC for the game. These will expand on the Avatar universe by exploring the stories of previous and future avatars. These include popualr characters including Korra, Roku, and Kiyoshi.
“With a globally beloved brand of this level, we’ve endeavored to create a game that expands the rich and storied universe of The Last Airbender in a way that feels authentic and exciting to fans of the series and RPG games alike,” said Will Moore, CEO of Navigator Games’.
