At first glance, Battlepalooza from nWay is a knock-off of Fortnite. Human characters, funky hairstyles and outrageous outfits pairing with sci-fi weapons? It certainly sounds like Fortnite. However, there is more to this game show battle royale than meets the eye. The announcement trailer claims it’s ‘for everyone’ and will be appealing to the casual gamer. The game will provide a less competitive environment with no toxic gamers. Instead of 100 players and random maps, only 24 will face each other in real-life locations. To get such locations, nWay partnered with Google to incorporate Google Maps into the game. The first three locations are said to be Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Paris.
Additionally, team modes have players fight in groups of eight or twelve. Before each battle, players choose items, skills, and weapons for their avatar. Examples of weapons are drones and gravity bombs. Invisibility gear and barricades are just some of the items players can collect. The game doesn’t require gamers to rely heavily on skill. Strategy and luck are also important. Battlepalooza is designed to reward its players who use all three. Plus, unlike Fortnite, the game is top-down. Gameplay is similar to that of RPG’s and MOBA’s. Not much else is known, but Battlepalooza comes to iOS and Android on December 10th. Stay tuned for Hardcore Droid’s review.
