Finding a shooter on Android that doesn’t require an internet connection is a difficult feat. Luckily, if you look hard enough, you’ll find a handful of offline Android shooters on Google Play. But who wants to spend hours sifting through the first-person shooter muck (we’re looking at you XIII) to find the real gems? Here at Hardcore Droid we’ve done the work for you. Below is our list of the best offline Android shooters as of 2020.
7. Nova Legacy
In Nova Legacy players take on the role of Kal Wardin. A veteran N.O.V.A. marine, Kal must battle alien invaders. The game takes it aesthetic inspiration from the Halo franchise, with beautiful futuristic environments and sci-fi themed attire. Controls are fluid in Nova Legacy. There’s no need to tap the screen repeatedly to shoot. Simply align an enemy within your cross hairs to fire. Enemies are not too difficult to take down, but still provide enough of a challenge to keep you engrossed.
Of course, it’s not just enemies you’ll need to look out for. Early in the game you’ll have to dodge asteroids during a meteor shower. Nova Legacy has a unique weapon upgrade system—during play you collect specific cards to upgrade a weapon. Nova Legacy may not quite live up to the Halo franchise it attempts to emulate. However, it’s still an overall engaging shooter that will keep you entertained for some time.
6. Modern Combat 4
If you prefer your shooters grounded in reality, try Modern Combat 4. Inspired by Call of Duty, this title will have you traveling the world and waging war against a heinous terrorist group. The game features over 20 weapons all of which can be upgraded with attachments. Add a silencer to stealthily take out your enemies, or an extra-large magazine for extra ammo capacity. Players will also have access to a combat knife for when you need to get up close and personal. Combat is intense and so is the storyline. As Corporal Joel Blake, players begin by fighting their way into a stronghold to save politicians attending a peace summit. However, you’ll also play as antagonist, Edward Page. Playing as both the hero and villain adds to the game’s overall intensity. With an engaging plot and fast-paced shooter action, Modern Combat 4 is the best war-based shooter on Android.
5. Into The Dead 2
Into The Dead 2 is an intense endless runner FPS combo by PIKPOK. Run to save your family, in this intense shooter, blasting zombies along the way. Ammo isn’t infinite so you have to conserve your bullets and look out for ammo crates, easily distinguished from the surrounding environment due to their glowing green hue. Gameplay is intense. If you run into a zombie tap relatedly to use your knife to take them down. Of course, you only have one knife per level so if you slam into another zombie get ready to have your intestines ripped out. You’ll unlock new guns and melee weapons as you progress and take on everything form armored zombies to runners. With intense yet simple gameplay, a solid story, stunning visuals and a plethora of weapons at your disposal Into The Dead 2 is a title you can’t download fast enough.
4. Dead Effect 2
Dead Effect 2 is sci-fi first-person shooter taking place on the spaceship ESS Meridian. Something sinister is onboard and attempting to control your mind. While the story is a bit lackluster, gameplay is anything but. The game has distinct horror vibes similar to Dead Space. You’ll fight your way through enemy soldiers and hordes of zombies. Similar to the Deus Ex franchise, Dead Effect 2 allows players to equip high-tech body implants. You’ll unlock cool sci-fi abilities, like Kay’s pull enemy ability which allows him to telekinetically pull enemies closer. Of course, you’ll also have access to tons of upgradable weapons such as crossbows, assault rifles, and pistols. Players choose between three characters. There’s Gunner, the heavy weapons specialist, Jane, the assault operative, and Kay, the close combat specialist. With hardcore shooter action, cool RPG elements, Dead Effect 2 is one of the best offline shooters currently available on Android.
3. The Sun
The Sun is an epic FPS by AGaming+ which in many ways is reminiscent of the STALKER series. A surge of energy from the sun has left the world in a post-apocalyptic state. Your main goal in this epic FPS is to save your community from starving. As you brave the wastes, you’ll battle mutants and bandits while trying to stave off radiation poisoning, thirst, and starvation. The Sun offers an engaging crafting system that allows players to upgrade their weapons. Though primarily a first-person-shooter, The Sun borrows elements from the RPG genre including player stats and inventory as well as a karma system. The title offers tons of intriguing quests, engaging FPS action and harsh environmental conditions. With all this and more, The Sun more than earns its spot on our list.
2. Bright Memory
Bright Memory by FYQD Studio offers a thrilling offline shooter with some of the best graphics on mobile. Players assume the role of Sheila, a member of the Science Research Organization who must stop the mysterious SAI from retrieving an ancient power. Taking place in the mysterious Land in The Sky, Bright Memory offers breathtaking environments to explore. Sheila is not only equipped with several guns but also a light sword and an electromagnetic pulse ability. Bright Memory is combat heavy; players face off against undead soldiers and grotesque beasts. Enemies are difficult to overpower. You’ll want to utilize all the abilities at your disposal. While Bright Memory isn’t a very long game the gameplay it does offer is top-notch and FYQD Studio plans to expand gameplay in the future. With fantastic graphics and intense shooter action, Bright Memory is one of the most epic offline shooters available on Android.
1. DOOM I and II
Get ready for some serious demon slaying action. DOOM I and DOOM II are classic FPS titles long hailed as top-notch First-Person Shooters and their Android ports do not disappoint. In DOOM I, players take on the role of a space marine stationed on Mars. As the last man standing, players must defeat an onslaught of hell spawn to prevent them form attacking earth. DOOM II picks up directly after the events of DOOM I. This time you’ll be battling demons who have invaded earth. In both titles, players explore levels using a variety of weapons to take down demons in their path. You’ll fight imps, floating flaming skulls and demons armed with anything from a chainsaw to a rocket launcher. DOOM I and DOOM II are perfect for fans of classic first-person shooters.
