Brawlhalla, Ubisoft’s enormously popular 2D platform fighting game, makes its long-awaited debut on mobile. With a dynamic competitive scene drawing significant tournament viewership to this day, the title’s port arrives at a perfect time to continue its legacy (and perhaps court some new fans along the way).
Brawlhalla mobile comes locked and loaded with all the content of the base game and its free updates, making this a perfect entry point for newcomers. That means you’ll have access to eight characters on a weekly rotation. Additionally, players can purchase new characters with earned credits or real money. The Battle Pass and other cosmetics remain locked behind paywalls.
To many player’s disappointment, account information will not transfer over from other platforms. This keeps you from playing with the full roster in their decked-out gear unless you earn these rewards all over again. While this may prevent some from double-dipping in the mobile port, the access it provides shouldn’t be understated.
Per industry standard and to little surprise, Brawlhalla features cross-platform play allowing mobile users a fully-integrated experience with reportedly smooth gameplay.
What’s more surprising is Ubisoft’s commitment to integrated controller support. So long as your device allows—typically though a USB converter port—you can hook up practically any fight-pad, arcade-stick, controller or whatever you want to use to kick some butt. And of course, you can use touch controls if you’re into that sort of thing.
Overall, Brawlhalla is delivering exactly what is expected. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t one hell of a package. It’s one of those rare moments in gaming where an already strong and dominant product can make fans happy by simply giving them more access. It was good already, now it’s more ubiquitous. Take Ubisoft’s 40-Legend roster anywhere and keep playing Brawlhalla.
