Protect your candies!

Candy Disaster TD is a tower defense game developed by Erabits studios, in which you assist the mad scientist Jick in recovering the M89KD energy candies scattered on different planets. On your journey, you will meet many enemies who will fight you for said candies.

The game’s world may appeal to younger players, but it may not be as engaging or immersive for older audiences. The graphics are a bit goofy with a cartoonish art style, while charming, can also be a bit too simplistic for some players. Gameplay on the other hand is straightforward and addictive, with a variety of traps to build and upgrade, each with their own unique abilities and strengths. There are also special powers you can use to defend your candies, such as slingshot that sends an enemy back to spawn.

Wipe them all

One of the standout features of Candy Disaster TD is its level design. Each level presents a new challenge for players to overcome, and the game does a great job of gradually increasing the difficulty as players progress through levels. The game also features boss battles, which offer a satisfying challenge and require players to think strategically in order to defeat them. What’s also interesting is that you can combine various traps into a more effective snare, for example, putting a crossbow behind a fire. Candy Disaster TD does have a limit to how much you can play. Player starts with maximum of 30 energy, each stage cost five energy to start.

You recover one energy per seven minutes, so it’s not that bad, and once you run out of it there is a possibility to spend diamonds to recharge it. These precious gems are earnable in game for completing stages, watching some ads, buying them or progressing in Gallery, which is place where you get rewards for first encounter of specific enemy and completing challenges, but you also use them to buy new traps so spend them wisely.

To spend or not to spend

The aforementioned microtransactions shouldn’t come as a surprise. Some traps are available only through the shop as packages, at the time of writing this review there are four packages to buy, each containing three new traps. Shop offers also other deals, in which you don’t have to spend real money but diamonds only. In my opinion, extra traps are not necessary to enjoy or what’s more important, win the game. Without spending a single dollar there are still 24 traps to experiment with, maybe they would come in handy on some stages, but its certainly not a must.

Overall, Candy Disaster TD is an enjoyable tower defense game that will satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you coming back for more. With its charming graphics, addictive gameplay, and innovative level design, it’s a must-play for fans of the genre. Whether you’re a casual player looking for a fun and addictive game, or a seasoned tower defense veteran looking for a fresh take on the genre, Candy Disaster TD is definitely worth checking out.

Is it Hardcore?
2.5

Kinda

There are interesting traps combinations and different stage layouts that make this game somewhat hardcore, although it might be boring after a while because all free traps are fairly easy and quick to obtain.
