Shoot for the Goal
Developer KLab Incorporated made a significant change to its Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team multiplayer sports simulator. The new update alters how the competitive soccer simulator calculates user rankings to prepare for the game’s upcoming Dream Championship tournament. The update also coincides with Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team’s Day 1700 celebration event.
The new ranking system went into effect last Friday, February 4th, the same day KLab Inc. launched the in-game Day 1700 event. The system ranks Dream Team players users based on their performance in Rank Matches, Cup Championship, and League Matches. The highest-ranked users have the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Dream Championship later in the year. KLab also plans to open Online Qualifiers as another path to the Dream Championship. However, the company’s yet to reveal the new rules or when these Qualifiers will occur.

Old School Kicks
For the unfamiliar, Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team is an Android and iOS soccer simulator based on the long-running sports manga Captain Tsubasa. The manga originally released in 1981, with Dream Team launching in 2017. The game lets players relive the original manga in Story Mode before jumping into competitive play. The game’s biggest event is the annual Dream Championship, which started in 2019. It lets players from over 150 countries go head-to-head searching for the world’s top player.
Previously, Dream Team players qualified for the Dream Championship during three weeks of online qualifiers. However, some players reportedly felt that the system didn’t do a good enough job selecting the game’s best players. KLab hopes that the new ranking system helps ensure that the best-of-the-best find their way into the 2022 Dream Championship.
In addition to the ranking changes, Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team players can still get in-game rewards until February 12th. Meanwhile, anyone interested in trying out the anime-sports sim can download it from Google Play and the App Store. And, of course, keep an eye out for future updates here on Hardcore Droid.
