Skills & Spells
Rovio Entertainment’s Darkfire Heroes is pure magic. Long ago, Darkfire meteors rained from the sky for seven days and nights. Where they landed, evil creatures emerged, aiming to destroy everything in their path. After that, heroes around the world banded together to fight them. Choose heroes and spells to face all kinds of monsters in this engaging RPG. The game provides five heroes to start with. Each of them is unique in appearance, weapon, class, element, and powers. By tapping a hero, you’ll see a loadout of stats and abilities. Niena, for example, is an archer of the Damage Dealer class associated with Earth. Her power is Rain of Arrows, firing multiple at once. Other classes are Healer, Supporter, and Tank. Remaining elements are Water, Fire, Air, Light, and Dark. In addition to five heroes, the game also provides five Spells: Fireball, Heal, Poison, Lightning, and Daze.
In the campaign, Spells cast at enemies cause extra damage. Play strategically; they use Mana, which generates quickly over time. Spells cost around three to five Mana. Beyond available abilities, heroes have slots for Attack, Defense, and Magic Gear. Gear increases stats, with different heroes having a variable number of slots. For instance, Niena has three Attack slots. Raol, another of the five, has two Attack slots. Players earn Gear by completing levels in the campaign. To increase the effectiveness of heroes and Gear, upgrade them with Gold and Shards, also earned after winning levels. Moreover, upgrades earn EXP, increasing player level and refilling player energy, adding to max energy. Rewards for increasing player level include Gems and hero cards. Gems can buy Gold, and hero cards must to be collected first before heroes can upgrade.
Beyond this, the world of Darkfire Heroes is vast and unique. Starting at The Last Free City, heroes make their way through hordes of enemies, each tougher than the last. Sometimes you can explore a Dungeon or Darkfire Site. Clearing those earns rewards like Gold and Shards. Every level contains enemies such as goblins, orcs, armored skeletons, even giant spiders. Play manually or let them handle themselves by tapping autoplay.
Spoils of Combat
Rewards are bountiful in Darkfire Heroes, with many ways to earn them. The ones most easily earned are in the shop, where you can win free character cards and resources. Meanwhile, the other primary source of rewards are Quests, of which there are three types. Daily and Weekly Quests have time limits, with Daily refreshing after 24 hours and Weekly refreshing after seven days. Each asks the player to complete tasks such as spending energy and unlocking new heroes. Doing so earns points that fill the points bar, earning extra Gold and Gems every 20 points. Campaign Quests offer bigger tasks for greater rewards, like receiving 100 Gold for reaching a certain player level. There is the option to buy rewards with real money but doing so is ultimately unnecessary. Other ways to win are by participating in the Elemental Dungeon and Arena multiplayer modes.
The Dungeon changes elements every 24 hours. To clarify, heroes matching the current element defeat enemies faster. Each dungeon has ten floors. Completing a floor earns elemental essence as a result, used to upgrade hero skills. The farther down heroes go, the more difficult the floors will be. As for the Arena, there are two different modes. Firstly, Castle Conquest has the player’s heroes defending their castle from an enemy team. Secondly, Hero Race has two teams of heroes fighting enemies while attempting to reach the end of the road first. Both Arenas are played with other real players to win trophies, which unlock additional rewards. More trophies means more resources. Darkfire Heroes has so much content, boredom is impossible. With over 50 uniquely designed heroes to collect and an expansive campaign to explore, this game provides hours of entertainment. In conclusion, it’s not one to miss.
