Toss the Link Cables and Revisit Square Enix’s Modernized Cult Classic.
Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition drops on iOS and Android today, giving Final Fantasy fans another opportunity to join the Crystal Caravans and combat the deadly Miasma.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles broke new ground for the series when it originally released for the GameCube in 2004. Players explored the game’s dungeons with up to three other players via link cables and Game Boy Advance units. After a few delays, the title is now available on mobile with touch controls, revamped multiplayer functionality, and plenty of new features for returning adventurers to experience something new.
This time around, Crystal Chronicles offers a robust online multiplayer mode. The game supports cross-play, allowing players to journey with their friends no matter what platform they are playing on.
Additional features include English voice overs, improved visuals, an updated soundtrack, and challenging new dungeons that test your party’s strength. The remaster also introduces the Mimic feature, which tasks players with collecting Memory Crystals that alter your character’s appearance. Prepare to earn your new duds though. Adventurers earn these customization options through exploration and conquering the most difficult dungeons.
Square Enix also released a “Lite” version today for those looking to demo the title before purchasing. This trial version allows players to enjoy the first three dungeons and utilize the cross-play functionality free of charge.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is out now for iOS and Android, as well as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for those looking to take advantage of cross-play.
