After multiple delays, Square Enix has finally announced the release of yet another dose of the classic JRPG series. Our friends over at Game Freaks 365, scooped us on this a few days back. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is slated to be available on August 27th, 2020 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android.
The title represents an updated version of the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles first released on Nintendo’s GameCube in 2003. It revolves around a group of young adventurers, the Crystal Caravans. The group embarks on a journey to search for the rare and precious liquid, Myrrh. A highly toxic gas, Miasma, is threatening their world and only Myrrh can cleanse the crystal that protects them against said gas.
Unlike the previous versions, the remastered release features an enhanced multiplayer mode. Players can enlist up to 4 friends, across all platforms, in their Crystal Caravans. This is a fairly huge upgrade from the older version where up to three Game Boy Advances could connect with one another. Additionally, it features new voice overs, higher quality graphics, never-seen-before lands with new dungeons and a brand new mimic feature. The latter allows players to change their character’s appearance to match the several characters they meet along their way. So if you meet someone who you think is cool, you can simply become them!
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered has kept fans waiting for a while now. Initially, it was releasing in late 2019. They postponed the date to January 2020 and then to the summers of 2020. This isn’t the first time Square Enix has moved a release date, so our fingers are crossed.
