Do you like cars? No, I’m not talking about actual automobile, but Cars, the Pixar animated film from a few years back. If you were like me, you didn’t like Cars or its abysmal sequel, Cars 2, but that didn’t stop Gameloft from producing a racing game based around the Pixar film.
Cars: Fast As Lighting is geared towards children and offer extremely simple racing mechanics and controls. As usual, Gameloft put a lot of effort into the presentation, namely the visuals and voice acting. Writing is cute and funny, and while not using the all-star cast from the film, the stand-ins do their job well. In addition to racing, players can spruce up the characters with various paint jobs. They will also get to know the town of Radiator Springs more personally by building it up over time.
Gameloft, as usual, has also riddled the game with in-app purchases, but they take the time to prompt parents and warn them about the micro-transactions, in case they’re letting kids play. Cars: Fast As Lightning is available for free on the Play Store. You can check it out here if you think it’s for you.
