Gates of Mobius: Your Fairy-Tale Anime Adventure
Gates of Mobius by Goblin Gamer Company has launched on Google Play. This fairy-tale inspired title is both an RPG and Third Person Shooter. To be exact, Gates of Mobius is an Anime RPG real-time 3D action shooting gacha game. So, it is safe to say that this is title has a lot going on.
In advertisements, the developers emphasize the high amount of customization available to players. Like most RPG games, you can customize your character. In addition to how your character looks, there are five professions you can choose from: hunter, knight, mage, ranger and alchemist. So far, this seems like a standard RPG. However, Goblin Gamer Company hints that these professions aren’t set in stone. It seems like you can change professions throughout the game if you would like. Usually, players pick one class at the start and are stuck with it for the entire game. I’m left wondering how upgrades, stats and skills will transfer when players switch their character’s professions.
In terms of gameplay Gates of Mobius is split up into chapters. You will unlock new characters by completing various chapters. Advancing through the game allows you to upgrade your character’s equipment and powers. You can choose to adventure solo or invite up to four friends to join you in your travels. The multiplayer option allows for more strategizing. Players and their friends will have to experiment with different combinations of professions and skills to determine what will lead to maximum success.
Gates of Mobius is free to download; though, it has in-app purchases. I have a sneaking suspicion that they may be hiding a lot of the customizable features behind a payment. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how gamers react to this genre-mixing title.
