PC Games On Android
Android users rejoice. Google Stadia is now compatible with most Android devices. Google Stadia is a cloud streaming platform that allows gamers to play PC games on their Android phone. Until recently it was only available to Android users with a Google Pixel. However, Google recently chose to make Stadia available on any Android device with the capability of running the powerful software. Stadia does require a stable internet connection and at least 5G wifi connection as games are accessed via the cloud.
To give it a try, download the Google Stadia app through Google Play and create an account. Stadia is priced at $9.99 per month, which is twice the subscription price of Nvidia’s competing service, GeForce Now. However, Google is currently offering a one-month free trial, of Stadia to new users. Destiny 2, Little Nightmares, and a handful of other titles are currently available for free through Stadia after signing up for the free trial.
Controller or Touch Screen
Google sells Stadia controllers which can connect to any Android device by way of a USB cable. However, at the insane price of $129.99 the Stadia controller is not an option for everyone. Luckily for budget-conscious players each Stadia game allows for the option to use touch screen controls. Using touch screen controls for complex games like Borderlands 3 may take some time for players to master. However, the touch screen controls use the same layout in each game which basically emulates a game controller.
A Sweet Line up of Games and More on the Way
While Stadia’s game library is much smaller than that of its major competitor, Nvidia’s GeForce Now, it does offer high-quality games. Of course, unlike with GeForce Now, gamers will have to pay for premium games, even if they already own them through Steam or another game client. Triple-A titles like Assassins Creed Odyssey, Borderlands 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Doom Eternal are all available for $59.99 through Stadia. Stadia currently offers new users a $10.00 discount on their first game purchase. Google has also announced that the highly anticipated titles Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will make their way to Stadia when released later this year.
