Idle Dino Zoo Review

Life Finds a Way?

Idle Dino Zoo is a new idle game by Tech Tree Games. This title allows players to open and run their own zoo filled with many different types of dinosaurs. Players purchase new dinos and wait for them to breed and multiply. Buildings such as bathrooms, restaurants and shops can also be purchased. Purchasing buildings raises the number of visitors to the zoo. Players earn a constant income from visitors, even when not playing the game. Therefore, the more buildings you have, the more money you earn. Dinosaurs can also be sold to make money to purchase additional dinos and buildings. As more dinosaurs are collected and more money is earned, players can purchase brand-new dinosaurs and buildings.

As more dinosaurs are collected, players will acquire access to more zones, each having their own upgrades. Each dinosaur breed can also be upgraded to cause higher birth rates or lower death rates, among other things.

In typical idle game fashion, Idle Dino Zoo is not meant to be played in a long session. The game is designed to be routinely checked on. It’s a decently simple and straightforward game and is quite easy to pick up. The adorable art style and head bobbing low-fi soundtrack is enough to be instantly intriguing.

Due to the nature of play and key components of the game itself, Idle Dino Zoo is a game that can be enjoyed for a long time. Players will find themselves constantly checking in for even just a few minutes every day.

Spared No Expense!

With Idle Dino Zoo, the only downside is the option to spend real world currency to advance. Players can spend real money on bonuses or gems. Gems are another form of currency in the game. Players can also use gems to add temporary upgrades to their zoo or purchase items. Gems can be acquired naturally as players advance through the game or can be purchased for real money. Idle Dino Zoo also offers free alternative ways to acquire gems. These ways include watching advertisements or downloading and playing other games.

For some, this may be considered an upside. With idle games such as this one, players must be patient or only check on their progress occasionally. For many impatient players who want to push through large portions of the game in a single sitting, they may enjoy the fact that the pay option is available to them.

However, the idea of a pay option to skip ahead in Idle Dino Zoo feels out of place. A game that relies on player patience and expects players to play in short sessions shouldn’t have an option to skip ahead or unlock elements prematurely.

For players who choose not to exercise this payment option, Idle Dino Zoo will become an addicting joy that will sneak itself into your daily schedule.

Is It Hardcore?
3.5

Kind of...

Idle Dino Zoo is an entertaining and adorable idle game. From attractive 8-bit visuals and stylish tunes to the diverse collection of dinosaurs, Idle Dino Zoo has a plethora of entertainment to offer. However, due to the inclusion of a pay to play option, Idle Dino Zoo loses some of this appeal.
