Nothing Too Fantastical About This One
Kiss in Hell, another visual novel title delivered by Storytaco, offers exactly as you would expect from the studio. I have played a fair share of visual novels, especially by Story Taco. So, I wasn’t exactly moved by the plot line of this title. Yes, it can be said that the plot seems original enough with a dash of much-expected deviation. Overall, Kiss in Hell is a decent game to explore. However, as far as visual novels and otome works are concerned, this one doesn’t elevate or guarantee an extraordinary reading experience.
The Devil Is in the Detail
This fantasy otome features four demons: Asmodeus, Leviathan, Mammon and Satan. Clearly, we are dealing with a tale of some wicked proportion. It is sexual with explicit narrative, but that is something you would expect from an otome game. However, I haven’t really come across such a spicy work from StoryTaco before. To be honest, the narrative isn’t all that engaging. Having come to this game after my experience with one of the most talked of otome title currently, I realised that high-end graphics might not always work if you are saddled with a poor storyline.
Which One Do You Prefer
Without giving away much of the plot, one can explain the basic premise of the story in this way: the lead/the player has been assigned with a mission. There are four demon lords and you are tasked to stop them. These four lords are on their own quest of rampage. The mission is to stop them at any cost. One of these costs, inevitably, is love.
It can work for you in case you want a good reading experience without any action based or more violent RPG experience. This game offers a soothing reading experience where you will be seduced by the demon lord of your choosing.
After every episode, there are chances to earn diamonds, but of course, not enough so that you can buy a romantic date with the demon of your choosing. I have also noticed that with StoryTaco, there is only one way to opt for more expensive choice, which is by buying the diamonds. Now again, I understand the reason behind it, but this does render the gameplay experience weak. Honestly, in a free game, advertisements can be tolerated if they provide you with enough diamonds to keep the players engaged. In Kiss in Hell, you do get to read through the end, but this lacks a certain engagement which you expect from a romantic otome experience.
You Have To Earn the Love
There are missions that you can fulfil, built in within the narrative. Also, you are expected to offer them gifts (I know, gender equality, wohoo). This way, you can improve the narrative and plot line with your favourite demon lord. Of course, you would like to stimulate an interesting reading experience with the character of your choosing. There are episodes featuring dates with your favourite characters. However, they cost a whooping amount of diamonds. You can’t earn these kinds of diamonds by just watching ads.
Is It Hardcore?
Nah
All in all, the plot line is okay in Kiss in Hell. If you were expecting a rich and deeply explored plot, this title might not be for you. However, it’s a good enough visual novel for a decent reading experience with smut. Although, I would recommend that you don’t hold high hopes on earning diamonds and a romantic reading experience with your favourite demon lord.
