Marvel Future Revolution Review

Avengers Assemble

The multi-verse is at risk in Marvel Future Revolution by Netmarble. In Marvel’s first open-world action RPG for mobile, multiple earths are converging to create a brand-new Primary Earth. As usual, it’s up to the Avengers to save the world from threats new and old. Players take on the roles of Spider-Man, Black Widow, Dr. Strange and many more in this intense title.

Let me just say that this game boasts some amazing graphics. The cutscenes almost seem like those you’ll find on the PS4 or Xbox One titles. Of course, the actual gameplay graphics aren’t as impressive, but they are still high quality as far as mobile gaming goes. Luckily, there’s a lot more to Marvel Future Revolution than nice aesthetics.

Heroes Aplenty

The title starts off by introducing the player to a multitude of playable characters. You’ll swing from buildings as Spider-Man, blast enemies with tornadoes as Storm, and harness the mystical arts as Dr. Strange. Switching between so many characters in the prologue led to it being a bit too bogged down with cinematics. Overall, however, it was a great way to introduce players to many of the heroes they may choose to play later.

Marvel Future Revolution Black Widow and Enemy

After the initial sequence, players can add heroes to their squad. Next to each character, the game lists how difficult said character is to control. Unsurprisingly, Black Widow is one of the more challenging characters to master while Star-Lord is easy in comparison. What’s interesting about Marvel Future Revolution is that each hero has a unique opening chapter. For instance, Black Widow’s first mission involves saving would be weaponized children and fighting dinosaurs. Yes, you read that right, she fights an actual dinosaur. Dr. Strange’s first mission, however, involves infiltrating an alien prison.

The gameplay is what you’d expect from a mobile RPG with online elements. Players complete quests for NPCs and vanquish enemies while exploring a vast open world. If you get lost while on a quest just tap the auto-play button and your hero will head straight to the next objective. What makes Marvel Future Revolution so fun is the engaging combat system.

Killer Combat

While combat is straightforward, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer a challenge. Each hero comes with unique attacks tailored to their abilities. Black Widow relies on martial arts and guns, while Spider-Man relies on his web-slinging ability. Heroes have a main attack that has no cooldown time. Starting out, you’ll only have access to a few of your heroes’ abilities. As your hero levels up, you’ll unlock more advanced abilities. Of course, every ability other than your basic attack has a cooldown time, so use each attack wisely. Overall combat is smooth and engaging.

Power Up

Marvel Future Revolution follows in the mobile app tradition of in-app purchases. Luckily opting out of in-app purchases doesn’t hinder gameplay, though they can enhance it if you’re willing to spend some dough. The in-game shop offers everything from premium currency packs to starter bundles. Prices ranging from $3.99 to a whopping $89.99

Marvel Future Revolution is a solid mobile RPG chock full of all your favorite Marvel heroes. The title features breathtaking cinematics and an immersive combat system. While at times the cutscenes go on for too long, Marvel Future Revolution is an engaging RPG that brings the Marvel Multiverse to life. So, what are you waiting for? Go sling some webs and protect Primary Earth as the convergence threatens to destroy it.
