Meeerge is an engaging new merge puzzle title by Betta Games. After a divine artifact is sealed away by magic, you and your tribe must traverse the mystic islands. Players merge objects to complete levels, heal the corrupted lands and retrieve the divine artifact. You’ll find yourself enjoy the relaxing gameplay of this puzzler.
Meeerge offers tons of short but sweet levels. Gameplay is fairly simplistic. Levels take place on small islands which are laid out on a grid. To pass each level players use their merge magic to create the object specified as your objective. To merge, you must have three identical objects. Place them together on the grid to merge. Some levels are timed adding an extra layer of challenge to the game. The amount of time you have to complete a timed level varies. However, if you run out of time you can purchase an extra thirty seconds using gems. These timed levels are more difficult than one might guess.
Another aspect of gameplay in Meeerge is the corrupted land. You cant move objects that are Objects on top of corrupted land. To cure the land, you must either merge or use healing orbs. Healing orbs can be harvested from various items on the grid by members of your tribe. Summon tribesmen by merging totems that represent them. Types of tribe members include Naughty Babies, Tribal Daisies, Mammoths and more. While they all behave relatively the same, the variety adds to the game’s aesthetic.
Gems are the premium currency in Meeerge. This premium currency can be earned by completing daily objects or by tapping rare items that appear on the islands. Gems can be used to purchase totems, gold and more. Packages are available for purchase in the game’s store, each of which includes gems. These packages cost anywhere between $1.99 and $99.99 and include totems and other treasures. Playing levels cost torches. When you run out of torches, you’ll either wait for more to spawn, buy more with gems, or purchase a torch bundle. For $3.99 you’ll get twenty torches, while $9.99 nets you thirty-five. I’ve never been one to encourage microtransactions and my opinion on them remains the same with this title. While you may have to wait a bit for your torches to recharge, the game plays smoothly without the need to spend a dime.
Restore Your Homeland
Another thing you can do when low on torches is head to your homeland. Here you can merge items and heal your land. Starting out, fog surrounds your homeland which is a small parcel of land. As you progress in-game, you’ll be able to roll back the fog and heal more of the island. Whenever I ran out of torches to play levels, I was thankful for the free play the Homeland offers.
Meeerge is an incredibly fun merge title featuring adorable graphics. The mix of timed and regular levels keeps players engaged throughout. The energy system implemented by most mobile games does rear its ugly head in this title. However, Meeerge still allows players to play at the Homeland when they run out of torches. If you’re a fan of casual puzzle games, Meeerge is definitely worth the download.
