Dropping Dimes All Over Town

Niantic, Inc. has taken on the NBA and delivered in a big, bad way. NBA All-World is a basketball game unlike any other. Easy to learn and fun to play, NBA All-World takes gamers outside to explore the world around them. This mechanic allows for discovering new game modes, players and ways to customize your roster. After several hours of gameplay, I still haven’t worn out my desire to pick up this game and jam. 

Players begin with one All-Star NBA athlete to roam the neighborhood with and run across other NBA stars as they walk around the world outside with their phone. Each star I discovered brought a different mini-game with them. Mini-games include contests such as an around-the-world three-point contest and the most points in twelve shots competition. Beating the contesting would add them to my roster. This is where the addiction comes in. Much like collecting trading cards, I found myself searching all over town for what players I could add to my team. I felt this was a nice way to keep the player interested.

The Star of Your Domain

As I ventured into the open world, NBA All-World showed itself to be much more than a one-on-one, gotta-catch-them-all kind of contest. The game offers all kinds of incentives for taking the time to put in some exercise walking around town. Players can find various popular courts to play on. Additionally, they can shop for clothing which provides play boosts for their roster. Finally, they can join tournaments and prove they are king of the court.

While my NBA is full, I am sticking with one or two favorites. It’s an easy way to level them up to take into tournaments. By accessorizing my favorite stars, I can boost their play as well as lower the amount of energy depletion after each game. This allows me to dominate the court and prove my worth against other players around the world. 

And One Final Note

While NBA All-World asks for players to go outside, the game can be played without walking around the neighborhood. Encounters with other NBA stars occur at random. Players will pop in and out of the map within your avatar’s vicinity allowing you to enter play at any time. 

I was able to fill out my roster simply by checking in with the game periodically to see which stars were standing in my immediate area. This is not an ideal way to experience the game, but it is a nice way to play some lowkey matchups and collect additional stars to adventure with later on.

Based on the game modes, upgrading characters and getting gamers outside and active, NBA All-World is a premier basketball game that anyone can pick up and master. With a simple swipe of the finger, fans of the NBA can become king of the court and dominate their rivals with the greatest of ease. It is an experience that any collector will be addicted to in seconds.
