Warner Bros Interactive announced a companion app for their upcoming game Mortal Kombat X on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Bearing the same name as it’s console counterpart the app, developed by NetherRealm Studios, will be a free-to-play fighting/card battle hybrid that hopes to bring custom MK fighting gameplay to mobile. With the studio’s experience producing games such as Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman Arkham City Lockdown the team aim to bring the same striking graphics to handheld devices.
Creative director at NeatherRealm Ed Boon praised the game for allowing more player than ever before to experience the series. He also touted the apps cross-connectivity feature that links the console and mobile version of the game, stating that players would receive rewards for ‘simply playing the mobile game,’ that is possible with a registered WB account. Mortal Kombat X mobile will also offer multiplayer team combat and feature the iconic range of fatalities and x-ray moves. New characters will also be introduced with familiar faces like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden all on roster to show them how it’s done. Mortal Kombat X will be available April 2015 for Android, iPad, and iPhone devices. You can view the press release here, or check out the trailer below.
