Become a Ninja
Since I was a kid, I have had an outstanding fascination with everything ninja. Ever since 2016’s release of Idle Heroes, I have had an admiration for the adventure and RPG mechanics of idle games. Throughout the years we have seen a vast number of games that copy the idle formula. Ninja Legend Idle from hanhaixiao is no exception. What sets it apart from the rest? Have you ever wanted to adventure with Naruto and friends? Surely Ninja Legend Idle will fill a tiny ninja-shaped void in your life.
Ninja’s Idle?
For those not familiar with the Idle Heroes gameplay mechanics here’s a rundown. You form a team of highly trained ninjas as you progress through various game stages. You level your squad up as you go, collecting gear, and loot. It’s important to level up the gear as well. You’ll eventually get stuck at a stage, and that’s ok. This is where the idle part of the game shines. Log out and wait. After waiting log back in, and Tada! Tap on the friendly red frog to collect gold, gear, and experience. Equip your ninjas with the new gear, level them up, and carry on. This is the whole cycle of the game. If you’re familiar with idle games you can easily maximize the full potential of your ninjas, and you won’t have any problems getting through the campaign. If that’s not the case, you’ll be incentivized to pay up with your hard-earned cash to enlist a five-star ninja to join your team. You can instead refuse to spend your money on the game and turn to the Wild tab in the game’s menu, and grind for resources until you are ready for the next stage.
With hundreds of ninjas to explore with, you have the standard decent three stars to the best five-star ninjas that will help pull your ninja team to the next level. The five different factions you employ in Ninja Legend Idle are fire, lightning, wind, water, and earth. Knowing which ones to use in each fight will only help you get through the campaign. The game does a good job of walking you through this facet. Also, knowing when to use your ninja’s special ability in battle can often be the difference between victory or defeat in the later stages of the game.
Way of the Fist
Ninja Legend Idle’s music, a mixture of Asian and pop vibes, provides the just right groove to accompany your ninja-centric adventures. The music would cut in and out while spending a good amount of time within the game which was a little disappointing. The art was something any fan of Naruto would appreciate. The story, well there was none. The game used flavor texts from the anime during boss fights, but aside from that, the story was nonexistent. Idle games can build great stories, however; this is something you won’t find in Ninja Legend Idle. Compared with other idle games Ninja Legend Idle is generous in their drop rates of four- and five-star heroes which is good, because I’ve seen idle games that are greedy, blocking the player from higher tier heroes. Unfortunately, if you don’t spend money Ninja Legend Idle will always ask you to purchase a five-star ninja that comes along with “super value gifts” for 0.99 cents. This can be annoying if you don’t intend on spending money.
The Essence
The question is what sets Ninja Legend Idle apart from the huge cache of idle games on Google Play? Nothing. Even the layout of the game itself follows the same placement games like Idle heroes that have created and perfected this formula. If you are looking for something unique within the scope of idle games, you won’t find it here. However, if you have a love for idle games and enjoy Naruto you will not be disappointed in the slightest.
Is It Hardcore?
In the right hands.
A fine idle game that checks all the idle RPG boxes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t bring anything new to the genre apart from being wrapped in a ninja frenzied skin.
