Scouring through the depths of the free Google Play apps can sometimes be a chore, but occasionally we manage to come across a diamond in the rough. This Play Store diamond is called Magnetic Balls, and while the title is about as literal as it gets, the game itself is a joyful callback to arcade puzzlers, when game objectives were as simple as getting the high score.
Magnetic Balls is a puzzler that’s reminiscent of the arcade classic Bust-a-Move. It’s a simple puzzler with, well, magnetic balls. What makes this game is its physic engine, which may seem like a minor addition, but it adds a surprising amount of depth as you shoot your balls off of walls and swing them around other balls to create combo chains.
There are two game modes available: an arcade mode and a campaign mode. The arcade mode is an endless mode with adjustable difficulty and the campaign has the player working his way through each of the game’s 384 levels. Couple this with different gravity settings, over 70 items to collect, different decors to play in, and leaderboards, and you’ve got quite the time waster on your hands.
With a good amount of content and addictive gameplay, Magnetic Balls is an extremely easy game to recommend – and it’s free, so what’s your excuse for not playing with your balls? (Ok, I had to make one ball joke.) You can try it for yourself here.
