A Minimalistic Masterpiece
I think it’s pretty clear by now that SSDs are the future. They’ve successfully managed to leave behind the days of big, heavy and slow HDDs. But not all SSDs are automatically great just because they’re not hard drives. They need to deliver the perfect combination of being robust, sturdy, fast and portable all the same time. The OWC Envoy Pro EX is an example of one such SSD.
I don’t like it when tech is overdesigned. I firmly believe in ‘less is more.’ The Envoy Pro, being very minimal in its design, looks classy and is easy-to-use. It offers a sleek exterior made out of sturdy anodized aluminum that looks and feels quite expensive.
The Envoy Pro hosts nothing but a single USB-C port on one of its sides. It comes with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C cable and a user guide. Overall, the drive is an excellent addition to your work setup and doesn’t look flimsy or cheap in any way.
Insanely Fast
The Envoy Pro promised speeds up to 436MB/s. According to the speed test I conducted by transferring a 1GB file. The advertised speed turned out to be a slight exaggeration but was impressive nevertheless. It took me an unbelievable time of just five seconds to transfer a file of 1GB. The transfer was not only lightning-fast, but the NVMe M.2 sitting inside the SSD ensured a very smooth and uninterrupted process. Speed-wise, I am more than content. This is one area I can whole-heartedly vouch for.
There’s more to the functionality of the Envoy Pro. Along with a fast speed, it offers a storage space of up to 2TB. This is quite a lot of memory, and there’s hardly any chance of you having to worry about space if you decide to go for the Envoy Pro. It’s one of those pricey but totally worth it investments that will make sure you’re never bothered by speed or memory issues ever again.
Bus-powered and compatible with both PC and Mac, the Envoy Pro delivers blindingly fast speeds and enough memory to fit all your storage needs. It used the tier-1 NAND technology that makes sure to keep your valuable data safe, thus making it a reliable investment.
Made To Last
With an IP67 rating, you can trust the Envoy Pro with all your heart regarding dust or water. It is the perfect companion for travel considering its resistance to agents of nature and its form factor. The Envoy Pro weighs just 0.3 kgs and is 5.3cm by 1.0 cm only. That is just the perfect size and weight for an SSD that you intend on carrying with you. It can easily fit inside even a coat pocket. Not only does the Envoy Pro’s ultra-lightweight feature make it an ideal portable workflow solution, but also its warranty.
The SSD comes with a one-year warranty that adds to the list of reasons why it’s a pretty good investment you could make in terms of storage solutions. The Envoy Pro already hosts a robust aluminum body that’s also water and dustproof, thus lessening the chances of it giving up on you. But the generous warranty makes the situation better and your investment worth it.
Final Word
The Envoy Pro may seem over-priced considering its $350 tag. However, I promise you it’s worth it and a much better option than going for cheaper alternatives only to be disappointed and ending up wasting money. This SSD is reliable, fast and classy. It leaves no area unfulfilled.
Is It Hardcore?
It doesn't get more hardcore than this.
The Envoy Pro EX is the true definition of hardcore, offering brilliance in every area from speed and memory to reliability.
