MOBA Pokémon Meets Mobile
The Pokémon franchise once again breaks onto the Google Play and iOS App stores with Pokémon Unite! Releasing on Sept. 22, The Pokémon Company brings all the action of the Switch title onto smartphone screens. Confirmed in a recent Pokémon Direct, Pokémon Unite breaks with its previous Nintendo Switch exclusivity. With the hype already being built by its initial release, the Android and Apple installments are sure to bring these pocket monsters to new heights of popularity.
Playing the Field
Players partner with a variety of Pokémon in timed 5 v 5 battles in score-based matches. By attacking weaker NPC enemies, your ‘mon gains points for scoring. As with similar MOBA’s, team build and variety is key to a successful offense and defense. With over 20 playable characters, strategy is varied and satisfying.
The mobile port of Pokémon Unite promises to bring all of the content and gameplay of the Switch version. In the aforementioned Direct, crossplay is a key feature. Those who play on either platform will be able to seamlessly interact and battle. The new port will also add new content like Pokémon Mamoswine and Sylveon to all editions, with more on the way.
Power In Your Pocket
The Pokémon Company promises in-game bonuses to the number of players to incentivize pre-registration. If they receive more than 5 million pre-orders through the mobile market before launch, a new outfit for your playable Pikachu will unlock upon launch. The first two tiers of rewards are already confirmed, so be sure to enable pre-registration and get hyped for Pokémon today! And as always, be on the lookout for a review right here on Hardcore Droid!
