A New Strategic Experience
Developer Nakazawa Tech recently launched their brand-new turn-based strategy game, Athena Crisis. Published by Null Games, Athena Crisis takes gameplay cues from classic strategy games such as Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, and XCOM. However, the studio puts its own spin on the genre by adding innovative new mechanics and gameplay styles.
Athena Crisis places the player in command of large numbers of units to battle across seven different environments. The single-player campaign features more than 40 maps to play through, with memorable characters and exciting moments along the way.
In addition to its single-player campaign, the game includes both ranked and casual online multiplayer against up to seven other players. The game also includes an editor that allows players to craft their own maps, puzzles, and even entire campaigns. Players can then share their creations with the world for other players to enjoy.
“I became a huge fan of the Advance Wars series after playing the original game as a teenager when it came out. I wanted to bring back memories of the unforgettable feeling of trying to solve complex challenges while enjoying a beautiful pixel art game with great music,” said Christoph Nakazawa, founder of Nakazawa Tech. “Athena Crisis is a faster and modern interpretation of the formula with its seamless multiplayer and multi-platform approach. We’ve been working in the open with the community to make the game as good as possible for our full release – and we are excited to keep improving the game and continue building the world of Athena Crisis in the future.”
Athena Crisis is available now for iOS and Android, as well as on PC via Steam. Also, be sure to check back later for our Hardcore Droid review.
