The Medieval Fantasy Comes to Mobile
After twenty years, developer Jagex is porting their popular MMORPG RuneScape from PC to mobile. Set in a medieval fantasy land, players embark on a journey through an open world complete with cynical gods, warring races and unexplored dungeons.
RuneScape will be hitting the Play Store this summer, and pre-registration for the game is open now. Journey into the Sixth Age of Gielinor to discover an open world deep with legend and lore. Gielinor’s people are thriving, but the Elder Gods are scheming, the black clouds are darkening and war looms. Visit dozens of unique locations including the medieval city of Burthorpe and the harbors of Catherby. Take up woodcutting, fishing, or hunting and master the skills unique to each. Players have some versatility, being able to battle with magic or physical weapons, for instance. Between battling demons and learning skills, there is plenty to do as you travel across Gielinor.
An Optimized Cross-platform Experience
Reportedly, RuneScape on mobile will support cross-platform gameplay. Because of this, the mobile and PC versions share any progress made. Those who pre-register will contribute to a number of rewards all players will receive. “Given RuneScape’s 20-year heritage, to have the whole of RuneScape running on mobile is a monumental achievement and we couldn’t be more excited for launch,” said Ryan Ward, one of RuneScape’s executive producers. Allegedly, the game was optimized, and as a result it is more mobile friendly.
