Super Glitch Dash Review

Parkour & Riddler-Like Traps

“And the Dark Knight Detective fails to complete my challenge.” Yes, that’s the Riddler. However, you don’t have to worry, Super Glitch Dash doesn’t have the Prince of Puzzles chirping in your ear. But it does have plenty of parkour and obstacles that Riddler wishes he could use. Rogue Games Inc. has crafted a superb first-person runner that feels a bit like the Maze Runner films or Temple Run without the jungle. Super Glitch Dash is challenging with an element of suspense and danger added in.

Obstacles, Controls, Diamonds

Imagine you’re ensnared in a death trap. The Riddler tells you to solve his latest conundrum and save the hostage. Except there’s just one problem, you’re not Batman! You are, however, faced with plenty of puzzles and perils in Super Glitch Dash. Players don’t just have to engage in parkour running, they also have to avoid obstacles.

So, what obstacles do you have to deal with? Well, a little bit of everything. There are giant boxes, saws, blades, spikes, lasers, and hammers that will flatten you like a pancake. How do you avoid such nasty obstacles? Controls help with that, but it may not be as easy as you think. Players can control their movement by jumping, strafing from left to right and even ducking and sliding to avoid objects overhead.

Diamonds add another element of fun. As you progress, you are tasked with collecting diamonds, five of which are scattered at various points throughout the course. Now, some of these shiny distractions are rather easy to collect, others not so much. For example, you may see a diamond tucked away in a corner. Ahead of you is a stack of boxes you must either strafe around or jump over. Easy, right? Wrong! To snag this sparkly gem precision is key. If you’re patient, you’ll be able to grab the diamond, avoid the boxes and continue to the end. Move too fast, too slow or misjudge even a little bit and BAM! You’ll go splat against the boxes and start over from the beginning. Collect diamonds and, avoid all the perils earn a perfect run and unlock other difficulty settings.

Levels, Crowns and Difficulty

What’s a game without levels? Let’s face it, one level games or one degree of difficulty can be relatively boring. Fortunately, Super Glitch Dash has no shortage of either. Levels range from Easy all the way to Nightmare. Each ups the ante in terms of obstacles and difficulty. For example, Easy is self-explanatory; minimal obstacles, minimal danger. Medium, Hard, and Nightmare modes provide far greater challenges. Nightmare mode is not yet available for players. You may find yourself paying upwards of $5.00 in cash to unlock some of the higher tier modes.

Crowns offer another aspect of gameplay. Like diamonds, these shimmering collectibles are scattered in various places throughout each level. Unlike diamonds, crowns are a major pain to snag as you dash along the course. But they are crucial for you to progress to the much harder levels you’ll face later. You must be smart, quick and incredibly precise in your movements. Say you manage to collect the crowns but perish before you reach the end of the level. Do you get to keep the crowns? No, that would be too easy. Instead, your reward is to start the level over and attempt to collect the crowns again. What’s that? You’ve been hit by one of the obstacles, you say? Pity. Looks like it’s back to square one! As challenging as it may be, frustration can mount quickly.

Overall Impressions

All in all, Super Glitch Dash is a neat experience. The graphics and parkour-style running are pristine, and obstacles give players a feeling of suspense while also offering variety. Levels are far from redundant. Perils are plentiful, and the challenge ratchets up once you play the higher difficulty modes. Rogue Games Inc. has done a good job of immersing gamers in a world filled with plenty of danger where survival is critical.

Is it hardcore?
4

As hardcore as the Flash racing around the world and messing with different timelines.

Rogue Games Inc. has immersed gamers in a world where surival and parkour-style running go hand-in-hand, obstacles are deadly and perils lurk around every corner.
