Bandai Namco has a new addition to their Tales series with Tales of Crestoria. After a three-year hiatus from their installment, Tales of Link, they’re back with another JRPG. You play as Kanata Hjuger, a young naïve hero who fully trusts the justice system until the Vision Orbs label him a Transgressor. Initially he only fights to protect the community. However, the lines become blurred when his crush gets blood on her and his hands.
Throughout his journey, Kanata chases after culprits and slays evil beasts. The combat style features turn-based party battles. You’ll have to strategically pick your team and calculate hits to the Vision Orbs. Strategic type matching matters here. The characters even have powers based in the elements wind, water, earth, and fire while also being influenced by darkness or light.
Instead of having cut scenes, players read dialogue for whole stages and even during combat. The devs cleverly make the role play facet a full-story experience with purported dynamic characters and dialogue. You can even chat while battling in raids.
So far players are loving the narrative, and the journey to find the balance between good and evil has them playing stage after stage. As more people join Tales of Crestoria, Bandai Namco will update players of incoming improvements. Stay posted for an upcoming HD review.
