This fantasy role playing game from developers Gamevil tells the story of Dragon’s Landing. A world ravaged by the recently awakened Dragon King, lord of both the living and dead, and filled with human tribes seeking to reclaim their lands. As the sole surviving member of the long forgotten Boden tribe players choose from five classes before setting out to recruit more members, discovering new abilities and training them up to become the heroes Dragon’s Landing needs. Through the use of tactics and strategy in battle, and with the aid of each heroes unique abilities, players clear the world of dangerous monsters and draconian bosses, earning gold and gear while restoring peace to the land. It also features a multiplayer option where players can join together to carry out real time raids on bosses with their fellow heirs of Boden from around the world and an offline labyrinth where players can face down waves of enemies. The games visuals will appeal to any who have an appreciation for finely crafted hand-drawn models, while the games tactical turn-based battles will suit those who enjoy a challenge in their RPGs.
4. Plancon Space Conflict
This interstellar sci-fi RPG throws players into the midst of a human-alien conflict, working as a smuggler, escort, mercenary, pirate and all-round profiteer to help undermine the invaders and secure mankind’s position as rulers of the galaxy. Beginning as the pilot of a small space junker players can work their way through a generous shipyard, commanding agile fighters, interstellar cruisers, and powerful dreadnaughts, as they upgrade their weapons, skills and equipment with stolen alien technology scavenged from found debris and vanquished foes. Researching these stolen toys can unlock anything from simple onboard tools, such as droid assistance, to deadly cruisers and magnificent space stations, giving you an edge in battle or unlocking new regions of the cosmos to exploit. The controls lend themselves well to the fast paced stellar dogfights, with a variety of auto-aiming tap-to-target weapons, which work well against multiple enemies, alongside more heavy hitting attacks that need to be manually aimed. Plancon Space Conflict would be a good choice for anyone looking for a fast-paced galaxy spanning RPG that’s packed with content in the form of weapons, ships, planets and technologies to discover explore while prioritizing crushing aliens, monopolizing trade routes, and stealing extraterrestrial innovations.
3. Knights of pens and paper 2
This sequel to the popular paper-craft meta RPG brings even more of the same colorful loot stealing, monster slaying, dungeon clearing heroes to the table than its predecessor. Keeping the same set up of eager imaginative role-players huddled before a dungeon master Knights Of Pen And Paper 2 casts players as a team of retro gamers, cautiously advancing their heroes through the dungeons and challenges set before them and battling enemies with swords, spells and dice rolls. The dynamic dungeons change as players advance, reflecting both their choice and the whims of the onscreen DM who controls your destiny. As players progress more seats are unlocked and new characters can be invited to the table, increasing the size of their dungeon plundering party to build a force strong enough to take down bosses and claim rare treasures as well as opening up new abilities and tactics for use. With well built mechanics, a novel interface and a lengthy and adaptive story Knights of Pen and Paper 2 will find favor with any fans of dungeon crawlers and roguelikes who are looking for something a bit different.
2. Disney Infinity Toy Box 2.0
This Sandbox game from Disney features characters from their many popular franchises, from Captain Jack Sparrow for the Pirates of the Caribbean to Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc, Buzz and Woody of Toy Story fame and even Spiderman and Thor from the more recently acquired Marvel universe. The adventure platformer allows players to use three characters at a time and new characters can be unlocked in game, bought via IAPs, or added using the web codes found on the model packs for other Disney Infinity games.Four short levels, called experiences, are included, complete with cut scenes and voice acting, providing an introduction to the Disney Infinity Universe and what players can do there. These four short levels make up what there is of the story mode, while most of the content comes from in the form of the Toy box. The Toy box provides players with a host of tools with which they can craft their own worlds, à la Little Big Planet, giving birth to anything from simple interactive stages to explore to fully fledged levels with their own bosses, challenges, and stories. Players are also able to share what they make with other players online and download the creations of other’s to try out. This game won’t only appeal to anyone who wants the chance to play as their favorite heroes from the Disney franchises but also those who enjoy the option to craft and create with a generous toolbox.
This point and click adventure game was originally released for PC in 1998 and was well received, earning high praise for its characters, story and humor. Taking on the role of Manny Calavera, undead travel agent in the land of the dead, players must complete puzzle and fulfill objectives to help send the souls of the recently departed to the ninth underworld. Some puzzles take the familiar point and click formula of finding objects and using them in the right way while other are carried out through dialogue, with players needing to ask the right questions and prod the correct buttons to discover new information or convince a reluctant NPC help them out. The remastered edition has also received an update to the visuals, providing Manny and co with smooth new textures, and the original control system translates well to the new tap based mechanics. The game retains the original sound track, keeping the atmosphere of the original, and the story remains unchanged, complete with all eccentrics souls and dark humor it was praised for. With a great story, challenging puzzles, and memorable characters Grim Fandango will entertain fans of classic adventures games or anybody looking for a satisfying story with boat load of laughs.
