X-Men: Days of Future Past, recently released on Android by developer Glitchsoft, is a 2D adventure with a host of playable X-men characters and a story set in the Marvel comic book universe.
The storyline is based off the original Days of Future Past comics from 1981, and is co-written by producer of Wolverine and the X-men Josh Fine. It expands on the Sentinel Uprising, as the robot villains enslave America and are get ready to take over the world, and follows the X-men as they travel back in time to prevent the assassination of Senator Kelly and prevent the bleak future. The game plays as a 2D side-scroller and beat ’em up as players fight enemies, traverse stages, solve puzzles and collect items.
The roster of playable characters includes Colossus, Cyclops, Kitty Pryde, Storm, and Wolverine amongst others, and each character has four mutant abilities to unlock and upgrade. As the X-men fight through the present and the past they’ll also encounter familiar enemies such as Magneto and Master Mold during boss fights. There are two control set-ups to choose from, swiping or tapping, and there is a wealth of hidden content in the game, covering 50 years of X-men lore, including concept art, comic covers and character bios.
