The Birth of the Witcher
Spokko is releasing an augmented reality RPG prequel to The Witcher series. The Witcher: Monster Slayer will be hitting Google Play on July 21st. CD PROJEKT RED, the publisher behind The Witcher series, has already established the world of monsters and Witchers. Spokko is expanding that dark fantasy world.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer is set in the early days of Witcher history. Monsters roam freely across the Continent and ravage kingdoms. Little can be done to stop them. Even fewer can stand against them. The newly birthed Witchers are the only exceptions. As newly trained Witchers, players will hunt down monsters. The actual monsters hunted will depend on the location. The augmented reality features also change the geography of the hunting area and will drive players to continually explore the Continent.
An added facet to the gameplay is that there are real time weather changes. This needs to be taken into consideration when hunting monsters, otherwise the monsters may hunt the player. Collecting trophies from these monsters hunt can raise your reputation as a monster hunter.
Spokko does have a gift for users who pre-register for the game. The celebratory gift is the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword. It’ll automatically be added to the inventory of a pre-registered player once the game opens. Using this sword in combat will award players 10% extra experience points whenever they kill a monster.
The dark fantasy title will be available for both Android and iOS. It’s free to play though there are in-app purchases. The official website for The Witcher: Monster Slayer has more information. There’s also a Facebook page and a Twitter account for the game.
Keep an eye out for the Hardcore Droid review to see how it ranks against the previous Witcher titles.
