Earlier this month, we reported that the Trese Brothers were launching a Kickstarter for Star Traders 2 RPG, the sequel to their sleeper-hit Star Traders RPG. Since then, they have been awarded the Staff Pick on KickStarter, and were featured by KickStarter as the game of the day. Not too shabby for two brothers on a mission.
Star Traders 2 RPG is a turn-based 2D RPG in the traditional of the original Star Traders, where the view would switch between captain and crew. The ship views will include travel and ship on ship combat, while the views following your captain will include landing on planets, visiting urban and wild areas, and boarding combat between two ships.
The depth of detail, relationships, and adaptive change in the characters will be played out against a backdrop of turmoil and strife. You’ll hand pick a crew, custom upgrade your ship, and fight, trade, pirate or smuggle to find a way to keep your crew paid, some fuel in the tank, and the ship repaired. You’ll roam through a massive procedural galaxy with freedom of choice in morality, goals, and career.
The game is just shy of its $50,000 goal, and is hoping that its final week pushes their numbers over the edge. If you want to check up on their progress or donate to their cause, check out their Kickstarter here.
