What Is Monument Valley?
Originally released for iOS on April 3, 2014, Monument Valley quickly became a classic for its unique use of optical illusion gameplay. The game, known for its mind-bending landscapes and visual design inspired by classical art and architecture, will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Consequently, players must embark on a journey of forgiveness through a series of meditative and calming artistic puzzles. Players can control different monuments and create evolving paths to explore a new surreal and mysterious world. By doing so, the game challenges players to be creative and introspective.
Furthermore, the game won various awards soon after its release. These include two BAFTAs and an Apple Design Award. The original game and its first sequel, Monument Valley 2, released in June 2017, have collectively amassed over 160 million downloads across mobile and desktop. The developers also added an expansion pack to the original Monument Valley in November 2014. Both games will make their debut on Netflix Games sometime in 2024.

ustwo games is planning an entire year of exciting activities for fans of Monument Valley as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration.

- Featured Discounts for Monument Valley: Panoramic Edition and Monument Valley 2: Panoramic Edition as a Steam bundle.
- A 10th Anniversary celebration video showing the influence the game had on several artists. These include those not traditionally associated with gaming like Guillermo del Toro to Ariana Grande.
- A special musical performance will be conducted by Monument Valley’s original composer, Todd Baker. Details on the time and date of the performance will be announced on the website.
- Various online and offline events will be hosted throughout the year, such as the Develop: Brighton event in July. These will give fans a chance to connect with the developers and celebrate their love for Monument Valley.
- Glimpses into the creative process will be provided via exclusive developer interviews, concept art reveals, and creative insights.
- A collection of free wallpaper art for fans to download is now available and will expand throughout the year.
- The development team will take fans on journeys through their creative processes via the short Voices Series.
