Metroidvania Mania
Netease Games’ new Metroidvania style RPG, Bloodstained: Ritual of The Night, just swooped down on Google Play. The game hit Steam in 2019, where it continues to receive mostly positive reviews. Development was led by, Koji Igarasji, former producer of the Castlevania series and considers the title a spiritual successor.
A gothic side scroller, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night thrusts players into the role of Miriam, an orphan who has been cursed by an evil alchemist. The curse slowly turns her body to crystal. To save herself and the rest of humanity, Miriam must fight her way through the demon filled castle and defeat the evil alchemist. The developers promise Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is full of fan favorite features of the Metroidvania genre. The title offers 107 weapons for players to craft or find, including guns, blades, and a number of weaponized shoes. The game also boasts 23 skills and tons of combos that allow players to customize their combat style.
Players can challenge minions and take their abilities upon defeating them. this seems to be an engaging concept. From ghosts to ninjas, the game boasts over 120 minions and bosses for players to challenge.
Despite the game just landing on Android, players are already complaining of frame rate issues. Hopefully, Netease Games Global will fix this in time. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night costs a hefty $9.99 on the Google Play store and yet still advertises in-app purchases. This is sure to ruffle a few feathers. Time will tell if this Castlevania inspired title is worth its high price. Stay tuned for the Hardcore Droid review.
