Do you like Spider-Man? Endless runners? Cheap time wasters? If you answered yes to at least two of these questions, then Gameloft’s Spider-Man Unlimited might just be for you.
Spider-Man is the latest big name character to star in their own endless runner. These types of games are all generally the same: You run down a path, swiping your phone to avoid obstacles and build a high score. What stands out about this release, aside from the fact that it’s Spider-Man, is the cel-shaded graphics. They look surprisingly great for a game as simple as this, harkening back to the last Ultimate Spider-Man game on the consoles.
Let’s just hope Gameloft doesn’t get all IAP greedy as they’ve done with just about every other title they’ve released in the last couple of years; but we’ll hold out hope that everybody’s favorite mobile copycat company refrains from pushing yet another “free” game that is actually incredibly expensive to play. They’ve certainly put out some fairly priced, excellent titles in the past; hopefully, Spider Unlimited is one of them.
The game is based is on the Ultimate Spiderman line of comics, and is packed full of references to the comics, including outfits, enemies and locales. It may not be the most hardcore of games, but if you’re a comic book fan, it might be worth checking out.
