Adventure Awaits!
The sequel to indie developer, Ellinia Games’ in-depth strategy RPG, Grim Wanderings, is now available on the Google Play store. Grim Wanderings 2 offers the same extensive role-playing and turned-based combat as the previous game with added features, such as enhanced graphics and a new armor crafting system. This sequel offers a much more detailed finished product than its bare-bones predecessor.
Grim Wanderings 2 carries over the D&D-esque character creation system from the previous game, with expanded options. Players begin by choosing their own race from an extensive list, ranging from humans to ratmen. Next, they choose their class from a list of 25 options, each offering their own unique skill set and abilities that greatly impact gameplay. From there, players will set off to build a party and explore the world, taking on quests and events while facing various challenges. Finding the right balance of races and classes in your party was crucial to survival in the previous game, but the added classes and races in Grim Wanderings 2 create more party possibilities for players to explore.
Old School RPG with New Conventions
The combat system has seen some change in Grim Wanderings 2. The previous game acted as an extension of the old-school RPG classic, Disciples, even borrowing its combat system. The sequel now operates on its own system, while still maintaining the classic turn-based combat that fans look for. The new crafting system adds an extra dimension of strategy to gameplay. Collect materials in order to craft strong armor and other items to aid in combat. Strong armor will be important because combat is just as tough as it was in the original game. Certain materials are limited to specific areas on the map, so explore wisely.
Ellinia Games has already planned a number of updates for Grim Wanderings 2 in this sequel, including new game modes and features. Updates currently in the works include a strategic game mode, which allows characters to construct buildings in their race’s capital city to add another layer of strategy to the game, and an arena mode, where players can compete in non-stop combat.
Grim Wanderings 2 seems to build upon the impressive, in-depth role-playing of the original game, adding in new systems that allow players to become even more entrenched in the world. Dungeons and Dragons fans should keep an eye out for this one. The Hardcore Droid review of Grim Wanderings 2 will be available soon.
