We have Laurent Crozier from Gameloft and Machine Ma from GOAT Games here to shed some light on the collaborative efforts, the game’s inspiration, new gameplay mechanics, and much more. Join us as we explore the future of Dungeon Hunter and the unique blend of expertise that promises to redefine the mobile ARPG experience.
Hardcore Droid:
As we know, GOAT Games is making DH6. Given that Gameloft has been a key player in the franchises’ earlier installments; could you shed some light on the current relationship between GOAT and Gameloft, particularly in terms of development and publishing?
Laurent Crozier (Gameloft):
Licensing out was relatively new, but we had to. Fortunately, we already had some idea of what worked and what didn’t work when it came to licensing and thankfully, We and GOAT games had the same vision. Of course, it hasn’t been easy due to various things like the time difference amongst others but considering how GOAT games handled the game as a whole, from the rules down to the characters, it was a good judgment call on our part.
Machine Ma (GOAT Games):
We’ve learnt a lot from Gameloft. Also, we have worked deeply with them to ensure that everything we do is consistent with the Dungeon Hunter Franchise. Clear information was gotten from them on everything that was and was not working. We have some experience of our own with action, RPG categories so it’s just like both sides’ strengths combined.
Hardcore Droid:
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind Dungeon Hunter 6 and how it continues the legacy of the series?
Machine Ma:
Firstly, we want to keep the lore of the A-list franchise alive, but we also want to do something unique with the game. We want the game to be a success and Dungeon Hunter to continue to be a definer in mobile games.
Hardcore Droid:
What new gameplay mechanics or features can players expect from Dungeon Hunter?
Machine Ma:
We are adding more gameplay and internet systems to allow players have more diversity in their gameplay. Players can expect impressive graphics and quality in this game. Our aim is for this game to resonate with long-term DH fans but also be a top-notch new game. In the new game, there will be an option for a more team-based approach.
Hardcore Droid:
Could you discuss any plans for post-launch support, such as updates, DLC, expansions or events for Dungeon Hunter 6?
Machine Ma:
We can’t expect DLC because that kind of model is not needed to run this game. The plan is for this to be a long-term game. We plan that after its release; there will be updates added that will let players play more and we also plan to make patches available.
Laurent Crozier:
The launch is only the beginning.
Hardcore Droid:
In what ways does Dungeon Hunter 6 leverage modern mobile gaming trends and technology to enhance player engagement?
Laurent Crozier:
Fast-paced dynamic play.
Hardcore Droid:
How does the team balance the need for in-app purchases and monetization with providing a satisfying gameplay experience for all players?
Machine Ma:
For comparison, we know that purchases have a successful history with the DH fan-base. I wouldn’t say we have exactly balanced it, but we try to optimize it as much as we can. With feedback that we get, we will use it to keep improving every version.
Hardcore Droid:
Is the game, like earlier DH entries, entirely playable for free? Are there elements of monetization that might be considered pay to win?
Machine Ma:
It will be free to download and if you don’t pay you can still get basically the complete experience.
Hardcore Droid:
With the prevalence of multiplayer, what is special about Dungeon Hunter 6’s implementation of co-op and competitive multiplayer?
Machine Ma:
So compared to previous DH titles, there are more and better PVP systems. Also players can work together fighting bosses amongst other things. Players will have more options in the action.
Hardcore Droid:
What is unique about Dungeon Hunter 6 leveling and customization as they navigate through the game?
Machine Ma:
There is more equipment to choose from, different effects and displays more variety for players to choose their formations, and players can also choose their fighting styles.
Hardcore Droid:
Thank you for sharing your insights today, it has been very enlightening. Any last thoughts from your end?
Machine Ma:
I feel very good about the collaboration with Gameloft for this game. We’ve really learnt a lot from this project, and I believe DH6 will be a huge success in ARPG games.
