Roll the Dice
You’re probably wondering, what’s ‘Ludo’ and how does it apply to an upcoming mobile board game? Well, ‘Ludo’ refers to a game played by two to four people who move their pieces via a dice roll. Inspired by the Indian game of Pachisi, the objective is to get from start to finish first. Though Ludo Emperor: The King of Kings is actually far simpler than Pachisi itself.
There’s more to this game than just rolling the dice, however. Choose to play as one of four colors: red, green, blue or yellow. While moving your game piece, defend your castle or attack other players depending on where you land. Use weapons such as crossbows, cannons and catapults along with creatures like goblins and dragons. Human armies, most likely with different classes, are available as well.
Ludo Emperor: The King of Kings has not one, but four different game modes. Play against the computer, online, with friends or pass and play. The latter of which involves taking turns passing the game device between friends. Creative Monkey Games, known mostly for their mobile sports titles, have taken a big step outside their comfort zone. Can their very first board game title live up to previously established expectations? Only time, and numerous beta testers, will tell.
The game is available in early access and is set to drop sometime this year. Be on the lookout for a review from Hardcore Droid.
