From Bricks to Bananas
Are you a fan of both Minion and LEGO? Do you wish you could experience the animated antics in LEGO form? If so, The LEGO Group and Gameloft for Brands are granting your wish. The two companies recently announced a crossover event between Gameloft’s mobile title Minion Rush and LEGO.
Minion Rush is an endless running game starring Illumination’s animated Minion characters. First released in 2013, the game has been steadily popular, boasting a 4.4-star rating on Google Play from over 10 million user reviews. Minion Rush features action, racing, collectibles and power-ups across missions, levels and locations from the Despicable Me and Minions combined cinematic universe. The game is free to download and is appropriate for all ages.
So what could LEGO add to such a game? It looks like this event will introduce a brand-new story, brick-ified levels and even more unique collectibles and prizes. Plus, you’ll get to see fan-favorite characters like Bob, Kevin and Stuart, who are already funny to look at, appear in LEGO form. But you’ll have to hurry, as the event –which has already started– ends on August 24.
The Minions first appeared in the 2010 smash hit Illumination animated film Despicable Me. Instantly achieving earth-shattering levels of popularity. The characters would later star in the spin-off Minions film in 2015. The yellow, banana-loving creatures, which seem to number around 10,400, often work as the humorous henchman for inept supervillains, hence the “minions” moniker. LEGO and Minions have worked together in the past, collaborating on some model sets. As both brands are beloved by children, this partnership seems like a slam dunk.
