Poco M3 Pro 5G Review

Spread the love

Poco is not a new company to us. We have reviewed their X3 Pro and F3. We found both of these phones to be excellent budget-friendly options. They were both stunning to look at, fast enough for stutter-free gaming and fairly reasonable considering all the cool specs they had to offer. We were recently sent the Poco M3 Pro 5G. I could not believe this phone when I first held it in my hands. It is nothing less than a dream.

Breathtakingly Gorgeous

Let me begin by saying that my 10-year-old cousin and I spent around a minute obsessing over this phone’s brilliant blue body. I received the phone in the M3 Pro 5G configuration and it has the most gorgeous bright blue chassis that gleams like a real gem stone. I don’t think pictures can do justice; you’d have to hold this in your hand to witness its beauty. It features a triple-camera panel on its top-left and the company name right under that. It has some info stamped on its bottom left as well. While the back of the phone is as gorgeous as it can get, and coated in Gorilla Glass, it has way too much going on. There is a bit too much text and it feels like it’s all been stuffed there. Leaving a little negative space would have been preferable.

Android Poco M3 Body

The phone is a 0.41-pound lightweight device. It is very slim and feels like a feather in your hands. The M3 Pro has a volume rocker and a power button on its right, a sim slot on its left, a charging port on its bottom and a headphone jack on its top. Controls-wise, it’s pretty straightforward. They’re not lacking in any way, nor are they extra stuffed.

Thoughtfully Packaged

Poco is a generous company. They have always been very thoughtful with their packaging. To add to their generosity, they send brilliantly-curated accessories as well. As PR packages, I received a cap, badges and a shirt from them. They offer quite a lot to consumers as well. Apart from the phone, user manuals, a charging cable and a charging dock, you get a Poco sticker sheet, a clear protective cover and a screen protector already on the screen! It’s highly impressive how dedicated the company is at making sure their consumers are getting the most out of the price they pay.

Made For Gaming

The Poco M3 Pro has been designed with gaming in mind. It comes with six pre-installed games which includes my favorite Android game, PUBG. The phone comes in two configurations: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB memory and storage. I received the latter. It has the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with an octa-core CPU featuring a clock rate of up to 2.2GHz. Its operating system is the MIUI 12 based on Android 11. PUBG on this phone was a breeze. It ran very smooth and I was even able to run five other apps with it. The phone’s GPU also came through with excellent graphics and high speeds. Other lighter games such as Jewels Blast obviously ran much smoother than graphic-intensive games such as PUBG.

Android Poco M3 Display

I was also able to conduct Zoom meetings, watch YouTube, listen to music and Instagram for hours without connecting it to a power socket. All three Poco phones I’ve reviewed up till now have offered a tireless performance with immensely long stamina. The M3 Pro’s 5000mAh battery was enough to last me a day of intense gaming and a day-and-a-half of relatively lighter use. Supporting 18W fast charging, it went all the way to 100% with just 53 minutes of charging.

Improved Graphics and Picture Quality

The Poco F3 and X3 Pro were excellent phones apart from their camera quality. The X3 Pro smudged way too much fine detail from my face and I didn’t like how it concealed my dark circles and acne. The F3’s camera popped up the colors way too much. It highlighted everything, making the picture look artificial. The M3 Pro’s camera was just perfect. It took bright, clear and vivid pictures. Even upon zooming, the quality didn’t suffer. The colors were accurate and close to reality. The camera didn’t unnecessarily put a beauty filter on my face. It displayed images with preciseness. Whether you are looking to craft an impressive video or just take a superb picture, the M3 Pro’s 48MP main camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera, will more than do the trick.

Android Poco M3 Camera

The phone’s display is a 6.5-inch FHD+ dot display with a 2400×1080 resolution. It has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It features a Reading Mode to not put too much strain on your eyes. The colors are bright and vibrant. With fairly trimmed bezels, the viewing experience was nice. Gaming was considerably enjoyable and so was watching Netflix.

Miscellaneous

The M3 Pro features dual sim mechanism that offer 5G technology. In terms of security, it offers a finger print sensor on the side and AI face unlock. While the fingerprint sensor was very accurate, the face unlock could have used a little more accuracy. All in all, the M3 Pro is highly recommendable. It has a display made for gaming and features a beautiful body. It also has an impressive camera and a long-lasting battery life.

Is It Hardcore?
4.5

Definitely!

I failed to find flaws in the Poco M3 Pro 5G. It is a brilliant phone with an excellent camera, fast processor and an aesthetically pleasing chassis.
