Even more than forty years later, Star Wars continues to be an ever-evolving universe. From the recent Skywalker trilogy to books, merchandise, games and The Mandalorian, the franchise is still going strong, regardless of your The Last Jedi opinion. It’s great news for fans, especially with the announcement of Star Wars: Hunters, a forthcoming Android game set in the Star Wars universe.
The Force Could Be Strong with this One…
It could be, but that remains to be seen because we have some time before Star Wars: Hunters story-crawls into your eager hands. The details of the game are slim as of now, mostly shrouded under the guise of Palpatine’s shadowy hood. But the upcoming release from Lucasfilm and Zynga could be worth the wait. The game is rumored to have a soft-release this summer by way of a beta, with a full release scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
The title allows players the opportunity to engage in online skirmish battles from a selection of familiar characters like Wookies, Stormtroopers, and a Mandalorian across multiple arenas. Star Wars: Battles takes place after the Galactic Empire’s fall, the timeline between the original trilogy and the Skywalker trilogy. Which could theoretically lend itself to classic Heroes like Luke and Lea and Han. A recent press release stated that “Heroes of the Rebellion” have been confirmed as playable characters. So it’s doubtful that you’ll be wielding a green lightsaber as Luke Skywalker or pew-pewing a blaster as Han Solo. But who knows? The traditional characters could pop up in some way. Hopefully, they have it secretly planned.
It looks like Star Wars: Hunters might be a fun and exciting entry into the Star Wars video game canon. Check out the teaser trailer below, and stay tuned for more information and Hardcore Droid’s official review upon release.
