Take everything I wrote above about Aralon: Sword and Shadow: a highly customizable avatar, a gorgeous 3D world, lots of loot and a multifaceted leveling system, and dial it up a notch, and you’ll have an idea of what Crescent Moon Games’ Ravensword: Shadowlands is all about. Like its younger brethren, Aralon, Ravensword is not going to win the Pulitzer for its storytelling; however, there is more of a story here and it actually makes sense. What’s more, the game world overall and how it unfolds as you run through the game’s main quest is far more well-realized and detailed. There’s a ton of sumptuous and wicked-looking places to journey through, like sloping deserts, cracked tundra and stretching plains pockmarked with colossal hippo beasts. Like Aralon, Ravensword’s combat is first-rate; melee battling is intense and spells feature brilliant 3D effects. Perhaps best of all, you get to off giant T-Rexes and yetis, and fly a pterodactyl as well. If Western-style ARPGS are your thing and you dig playing games on your device then Ravensword is a must.
