Batter Up!
Do you love peanuts, Cracker Jacks, fibergalss helmets and wooden bats? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might want to check out World BaseBall Stars, which a sports action game recently launched on Google Play and the App Store.
Developed by Korean studio FourThirtyThree, World BaseBall Stars brings real-time PVP sports to mobile. The developer promises fast and exciting gameplay with intuitive controls. The new mobile sports title allows players to challenge each other in real-time matches. The game features 62 unique players with baseball card-inspired portraits. Each character offers different stats and a range of abilities, allowing the player to customize their winning team. The developers also promise realistic baseball physics, and the game features weekly leagues for players to put their skills to the test.
Who’s on First?
World BaseBall Stars comes to us from Korean Studio FourThirtyThree, sometimes stylized as 4:33. The studio opened its doors in 2009 and released Android and IOS games in over 130 countries. The studio’s previous title, Boxing Star, currently sits at over 732,000 downloads on Google Play. It’s also received a Google Play Editor’s Choice award and averages a respectable 4.4 user review score. Other FourThirtyThree games, such as the RPG Monster Super League, earned similar acclaim.
So FourThirtyThree is definitely a studio that knows how to make a fun and engaging mobile game. The question now is whether World BaseBall Stars can live up to that legacy. Early reviews are a bit more mixed, and there are some reports of unexpected crashes. FourThirtyThree says they are looking into it, and hopefully, the developers will resolve the problem before too long. Only time will tell if the rocky launch is just a bump in the road or a sign of things to come.
In the meantime, World BaseBall Stars is free-to-play and available now on Google Play and the App Store. And keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming review here on Hardcore Droid.
