New Tile Game In Town
Space Ape has a new music game, Country Star: Music Game and yes, it’s exactly as the name states. Remember the tile games where you have to tap on the tile to keep up with a song’s beat? Country Star is based on the similar setup where you can enjoy music and feel each beat with your fingertips on screen.
Country Star essentially allows you to play around with the rhythm. Once you get the flow and tempo of each song, it becomes more enjoyable as you level up. As someone who had only heard country music because of the series Yellowstone, this was a pleasant experience.
Country Beats
You can explore different genres and sub-genres within the game such as Country, Americana, Southern Rock, etc. Country Star offers a wide array of songs from all the famous artists. These include Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Shania Twain and many others. Each song allows getting in touch with the music of the song. As you play, you inevitably start to sync with the pattern of beats within the song.
It’s simple enough to play, even for those people who aren’t used to too much screen time playing mobile games. I think the reason behind that is the gameplay makes it an immersive musical experience.
Not Easy
Okay, so you love country music, or music in general. You love games that stimulate your attention. So how does the gameplay of Country Star fair? Well, it was smooth enough for me. There was a lag here and there, but it wasn’t much of a problem during my hours of gameplay. I started to unlock harder songs and the different singers and genres.
However, if you blink or even get distracted for a moment, you might miss out on a tap or a drag of the tile, and it will pause the song. Then you have to spend some gems to restart the song and might have to play the same song twice, or even thrice (some songs were harder!). You can also buy new songs using the gems that you earned bettering your gameplay.
Quick Reflex Action
Once you start, you realize that the game does challenge you. Initially, the gameplay expects you to tap on a tile or press for a while. However, as you advance to the hard levels, there are left and right swipes, along with taps and long presses. Now, in order to keep the song in sync and earn the ‘Perfect+’ score, you need to be able to concentrate and do the action at the exact time the tile lands on the gray area.
It’s equal parts fun and terrifying. As you start getting the hang of it, you will require less and fewer gems to restart the song. Once you earn six stars, you can unlock a number of things. These include the hub, the shop, and the merch collection. The hub is where you can explore Country Star in a social setting, i.e, with other players. You can buy gems or spend already earned gems to get a rare song. Not only that, you can also change your skins, emotes, avatars and banners in the merch section.
Honestly, I have always liked games that aren’t action based. I enjoyed Country Music as it checks my reflexes and isn’t too technical in terms of gameplay. Every featured song encourages you to get as many stars as possible. And you can only open a new song if you earn five. The number of stars that you earn directly depends on how well you perform with your tapping. You can get a ‘Great’, ‘Perfect’ and a ‘Perfect+’. Also, it’s wise to create and continue a streak so that you maximize your star earnings. However, you can earn gems and watch videos to open new surprise cases which contains new song to be explored.
Is It Hardcore
Yes
Decked to the brim with amazing songs, Country Star: Music invites you to unravel your favorite country songs by tapping to the beat. Only this time, you will be tapping your fingers and thumbs. The songs range from easy to hard, and you can enjoy an immersive musical experience. And do get ready. The game is musical, but it will also test your reflexive skills.
