Crash Is Back
Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! earned nearly 700k in its first week of worldwide release. Launched on March 25th, the game was downloaded more than 23 million times in the first week. This made it the top new game by U.S. downloads in the first quarter of 2021. As of April 14th, this grew to an impressive 37.5 million downloads. This makes Crash the most successful launch by downloads for the Activision and Blizzard-owned mobile games company King since 2016.
Crash Bandicoot: On The Run! is the latest in a long line of games stretching back to the ’90s. In this endless runner, Dr. Neo Cortex has deployed villains from past Crash games across the multiverse. Crash, with the aid of his sister Coco, must defeat these minions and stop Dr. Cortex from conquering every dimension. Players will run through locations such as Turtle Woods, Temple Ruins, and Snow Go Mountain. They’ll face villains such as Scorporilla, Nina Cortex, Dr. N-Gin, and Fake Crash. Along the way, they’ll collect resources to make weapons such as Nitro Bombs and Frosty Ray Guns.
In Crash Bandicoot: On The Run!, completing successful runs will unlock new skins. These skins will give players extra trophies, bonuses, modifiers, and even an Aku Aku Mask. The enemies players face will influence which skins and weapons they take with them. The islands have multiple routes, and the resources received vary with the chosen route. Players use these resources to build a lab, where they can produce weapons. In addition, the game offers asynchronous multiplayer runs. Players can join a team, climb the leaderboards and win trophies.
