Don’t Blink
Fans of Doctor Who are well aware of the infamous weeping angels—frightening beings which turn to stone when seen. Weeping Angels are arguably the series most terrifying enemies. So, it’s rather fitting that they’re the central antagonists in the upcoming title Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins by Maze Theory.
Coming to Google Play March 19th, Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, is a found-footage sci-fi adventure game. Alongside fan-favorite Petronella Osgood, players will attempt to unravel a mystery involving an abandoned London house and a missing person. Gameplay centers around searching through the missing individual’s phone for clues. But there is a catch—the phone is counting down to self-destruct.
Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, picks up where the iconic “Blink” episode of Doctor Who left off. The episode follows Sally Sparrow and Lawrence Nightingale as they attempt to reunite the tardis and the Doctor. In this continuation of the beloved episode, Lawrence Nightingale, voiced by his actor Finlay Robertson, has disappeared. The game also features the voice of Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor.
Maze Theory is also the developer behind Sara Is Missing and SIMULACRA, two well-received titles in the found-footage horror subgenre. However, will Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins live up to Whovian expectations? Only wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey will tell. Fans can only hope this title features an in-depth storyline as impressive as those expected from the TV series. Players can preregister for Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins, now on the Google Play store. Be on the lookout for a Hardcore Droid review.
