Expert Lock-Picking Required
Imagine if Sherlock Holmes and Nicholas Cage in National Treasure had a baby. And what if that baby genius made an Android game? Enter Doors: Origins. The developers at Snapbreak absolutely outdid themselves with this fantastic puzzle title. This whimsical and challenging playground of puzzles takes problem-solving to a new level. When you think of unlocking a door you probably imagine simply turning a key, right? Well, prepare to embrace a new understanding of maximum security. Craft tools, fix machinery, solve murders, and even program nuclear reactors to unlock doors to harder levels. You might even slay the Kraken while you’re at it. While that sounds intense, the lovely ambient music and stunningly crisp, colorful visuals will calm your nerves. Pair these with hyper complex puzzle sequences and you’ll be engaged for hours without even knowing it.
The Key to Success Is…Somewhere
Each stage of Doors: Origins is divided into four levels. The levels of each stage are based on elements of a common theme. Download the game for free to access The Workshop and Factory stages. The visuals are clever and appealing. Sherlock Holmes himself would surely approve of the steampunk elements reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution. Later, you can pay to access the remaining stages where things get wild. In these advanced stages, the realms of myth and legend await.
While each level is unique, the game’s basic objective and functions remain the same. When you begin a level, drag the screen around to look at the door and its surroundings from all directions. Tap on individual objects to zoom in on them. While zoomed in, tap again to pick up useful items. They’ll appear in your inventory at the bottom of the screen. Drag them from your inventory onto objects to move, modify, or activate them. But don’t get ahead of yourself. It’s not always as easy as just tapping on a tool.
Since we kicked this thing off with movie references, consider Inception. Many of the challenges in Doors: Origins demand that you solve puzzles within puzzles. Luckily, there’s no time limit and no one is trying to kill you. Special tools are often hidden within puzzles as well. Just when you thought it would be easy to rob a bank, you’re up to your ears in puzzles and memory games. Rewire the circuitry to a security camera to find the hidden code to turn off the laser beams. Oh, but don’t forget to solve the puzzle to access the keypad to enter that code. And once you’ve gained access to the vault? More clues. The depth of this game is incredible. The developers spared no detail when it comes to the intricacy and detail of each challenge.
Hidden within each level are specialty items that aren’t central to the level. Each level has two gems tucked away in hard to find places. While in the menu, you’ll see slots above each level that display which gems you’ve found. These gems count toward accessing the two Prologue stages where the story all ties together. What story you ask? Well, within each level are hidden scrolls. When you find them, tap to unfold and read them. They tell a story, piece by piece, of a world of miraculous technological wonder. They are the historical account of humanity’s mastering of robotics and machinery. But the robots quickly grew too powerful to manage safely. Humanity’s golden age is now but a distant memory in Doors: Origins.
The Quintessential Android Experience
Overall, Doors: Origins is the absolute ideal game for the mobile platform. The functionality, mechanics, objectives, and plot are brilliantly optimized for Android and iOS. Everything is smooth, seamless, and just makes sense. But the difficulty and complexity of the puzzles are what distinguish this game from other puzzle titles on the market. The only downside is the modest investment required to access the advanced level. But take it from me, it’s totally worth it. Check out Doors: Origins by Snapbreak now and enjoy a dynamic take on puzzle games.
